LeEco eyes the Indian smartphone market with Le Max and Le 1s

LeEco, formerly known as LeTV, has entered the Indian smartphone market with two products - Le Max and Le 1s. Le Max is the company's flagship offering priced at over Rs 30,000 while the launch of Le 1s is aimed at disrupting the Rs 10,000 smartphone space. We review Le Max and analyse whether it justifies the attached price tag.

BlackBerry launches Android powered 'Priv' smartphone
BlackBerry has been losing its market share to Android and iOS powered devices. It first came up with the BlackBerry 10 operating system with support for Android app and now has adopted the Android operating system. On Thursday, the company has announced the launch of its first Android powered BlackBerry smartphone, the Priv.

Aimed at power users including enterprise audience and individuals, BlackBerry is offering a 5.4-inch WQHD display with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor paired with 3 GB of RAM.
It has 32 GB onboard storage and a microSD card for expandable memory.
Running on Android operating system, BlackBerry has included its BlackBerry Hub, BB Messenger, BlackBerry Notes, BlackBerry Password keeper and DTEK security app.
It also packs in an 18-MP camera with OIS and can capture 4k videos at 30 fps. It is powered by a 3,410-mAh battery and Quick Charge support.
BlackBerry has priced the Priv at Rs 62,990 which will be available in offline retail and for online sales the company has tied up with Amazon India.

Ultimate Ears launches Roll speaker for Rs 8,495


Ultimate Ears, a Logitech brand, has announced the launch of a new Bluetooth speaker UE Roll.
Waterproof and shockproof, the speaker has a circular frisbee like design and connects with smartphones over Bluetooth. UE Roll has an iPS and Android app that can be used to remotely turn on the speaker, control the sound or even play the tracks. Using the app, it can even be paired with other UE speakers.

Taiwanese smartphone maker ASUS on Friday extended its portfolio of Zenfone series, launching ASUS Zenfone Zoom -- an advanced photography-focussed smartphone for Indian customers here.

Designed for a photographer's delight, the smartphone is equipped with 13-megapixel pixelmaster primary camera that has a 3x optical zoom with industry leading camera features.

Coolpad launches Note 3 Lite at Rs 6,999
Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad on Friday launched its Note 3 Lite at a price tag of Rs 6,999 here.
The latest-released device, the next edition of the company's widely-popular fingerprint smartphone Coolpad Note 3, would be exclusively available on Amazon.in.
The Note 3 Lite features a fingerprint sensor, 5.0 inch HD screen, 3GB RAM and 16GB in built storage, a company statement said here. The memory of the phone, that supports 4G, can be extended up to 64 GB through a Micro SD card.

Featuring a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, the phone houses 2,500 mAh battery.
LI Bin, chief executive of the Coolpad Group said he was committed to producing products in India under the "Make in India" programme.
"...we are proud to announce that, by the first quarter of 2016, we will start manufacturing Coolpad Note 3 from Videocon's Aurangabad factory. Our target is to produce 1 million "Made in India" Coolpad phones."
Coolpad Note 3 Lite will be available in champagne white and black variants.

Microsoft launches Surface Pro 4 starting Rs 89,990
As reported on Wednesday, Microsoft India has announced the launch of its Surface hardware for the Indian market. At a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, the technology giant launched Surface Pro 4 in India, which the company claims is a tablet that can replace your laptop.
The Surface Pro 4 comes with a 12.3-inch display, but in the size of the 12-inch Surface Pro 3, by reducing the bezel. It has 2736 x 1824 pixel resolution with 267 ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is 8.4 mm thin and packs in full-size USB ports.
