OnePlus X withdraws invite-only model from February 5

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is known for its invite-only model for selling smartphones.

But only three months after the launch of its most affordable smartphone, OnePlus X, the company has withdrawn the invite-only model. The smartphone will be available for purchase on Amazon India without any invite starting February 5. OnePlus X will be available in three variants - Onyx Black, Champagne Gold, and limited edition Ceramic.

A press statement issued by the company stated, "The invite system has been crucial to letting us scale our operations and has given our fans a unique way to share our brand story with the people in their lives. It has been our constant endeavour to enhance the smartphone experience for all of you in taking risks by pushing ourselves and showing real improvements. That's why we're making the OnePlus X invite-free, forever, for a more cheerful buying experience."

The OnePlus X features a 5-inch full HD display and is powered by a 2.3-Ghz quad-core Snapdragon processor on 801 chipset. It is paired with 3 GB of RAM. It packs in a 13-MP rear camera and 16 GB of internal storage. OnePlus X runs on the company's own Oxygen OS and is priced at Rs 16,999. The limited edition ceramic variant is priced at Rs 22,999.
