Why Microsoft is giving Windows 10 for free

Microsoft debuted its new Windows 10 operating system on Wednesday, in what the company hopes will be a pivotal moment in its bid regain its sway in a world where the PC is no longer king.
The first people to get the new software Wednesday included about 5 million "insiders," or tech enthusiasts who previously enrolled in an early preview program. Microsoft is counting on tens or even hundreds of millions more to download its latest release for free in coming months.

Motorola launches third-gen Moto G at Rs 11,999

Motorola launched its third-generation Moto Gsmartphone for Rs 11,999 at its global launch in Delhi on Tuesday. The phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart.com starting July 28 midnight.
The new Moto G features a 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass display. The phone is IPX7 certified, which makes it water resistant in up to three feet water for 30 minutes. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4Ghz and runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.

OnePlus 2 to be available in India from August 11 for Rs 24,999

OnePlus has finally taken the wraps off OnePlus 2. At its first virtual reality launch, the company said the device will be launched in select countries, including India, from August 11. The OnePlus 2 64 GB will be available for Rs 24,999 exclusively on Amazon. The 16 GB OnePlus 2 with 3GB RAM will be available later this year, for which the price has not been revealed yet.

Lava launches Pixel V1 at Rs 11,350

Lava launched its second-generation Android One smartphone, Pixel V1, for Rs 11,350 on Monday. The 5.5-inch phablet will be available via both online and the offline channel.
The Pixel V1 features a 5.5inch HD (1280x720p) IPS display and has Asahi Dragon Glass protection. It is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core 64-bit processor and is paired with 2GB of RAM. This phablet comes with 32GB onboard storage with support for up to 32 GB expandable memory.
Lava has added a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front facing camera. It also packs in a 2650mAh battery with battery saving mode. It is a dual SIM smartphone with 3G support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB OTG support. Being a part of Google's Android One, the Pixel V1 runs on stock Android Lollipop operating system. This smartphone will be available in the retail outlets starting July 27. In the online model, the phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart.
The Pixel V1 will compete against the Xiaomi Mi 4i 16GB model available for Rs 12,999. Motorola, too, is expected to launch the 3rd generation of Moto G smartphone, which will be priced under Rs 15,000.

Sony launches Android TVs in India

Sony India on Thursday launched five new series of smart Bravia TVs with Android OS comprising 13 new models ranging from 43 inch to 75 inch panels starting at Rs 69,900.
All TVs will be powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with Sony Bravia UX. These TVs will have access to Android Play Store for downloading apps and also support voice command for searching the web or within the Play Store. Sony has also added a few features such as Serial AbTak for catching up with TV serials. Also, there is Notify Bravia, which is be an exclusive app for uninterrupted TV viewing experience by notifying customer about a call, SMS, email etc. in a unique way. It also supports Google Cast for streaming videos directly from the Android smartphone to the Bravia Android TV.

Moto E Gen 2 price cut by Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,999

Motorola's budget smartphone in the Moto series, Moto E (Gen 2) , is now even more affordable. The company has cut the device's price by Rs 1,000.
While the 3G variant of Moto E (Gen 2) is now priced at Rs 5,999, the 4G variant will retail at Rs 6,999.

Vivo X5 Pro launched in India at Rs 27,980

Chinese handset-manufacturer Vivo which entered India last year on Wednesday launched its latest smart phone, the X5 Pro for Rs 27,980 in New Delhi.
Vivo X5 Pro comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED 2.5D glass that has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The X5 Pro is powered by a 1.5Ghz Octa-Core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 system on chip (SoC) along with 2GB RAM on board.

Moto G 3rd generation to be launched on July 28, expected to be priced at Rs 13,700

One of the most awaited phones of the year is all set for a launch at the end of July. Motorola's previous MotoG model orMotoG 2nd generation is getting an upgrade and being launched as the all new Moto G3 or MotoG 3rd generation.
Motorola has sent out invites for an event slated for July 28 in New Delhi. Although it hasn't mentioned the launch of the device on the invite it is almost certain given the earlier company announcements that third iteration of Moto G is all set to be launched. Although the Moto x 3rd generations is also slated to release this year, we do not know yet if both these will be launched together at this point.

Samsung Electronics unveils new 9.7-inch, 8-inch Galaxy Tab S2 tablet

Samsung Electronics has announced its new tablet, Galaxy Tab S2. Available in two sizes - 9.7-inch and 8-inch - the tablet will be launched globally in August.
 
Galaxy Tab S2 is 5.6 mm thick and weighs 389 grams (9.7-inch model) and 265 grams (for 8-inch model). 
 
The tablet has Super AMOLED display at 2048x1536 px resolution and an Octa- core processor, with a microSD slot that allows users to add an additional 128GB of space.

LG launches G4 Stylus in India, priced at Rs 24,990

LG Electronics on Monday launched the G4 Stylus smartphone in India at a price of Rs 24,990.
According to the Korean handset-maker, the stylus version of the G4 is a pen-enabled smartphone that inherits the core DNA from the recently launched G4, LG's most ambitious smartphone till date.
Speaking at the launch, Deepak Jasrotia, business head, LG Mobiles India, said: "The G4 Stylus is a perfect example of what we mean by a premium smartphone experience without a premium price."

Micromax launches Yu Yureka Plus in India, priced at Rs 9,999

Micromax on Monday launched its third smartphone under the Yu brand. Yureka Plus, said to be the next-generation version of Yu Yureka smartphone, is priced at Rs 9,999.
 
The device runs on Cyanogen OS 12, based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It features dual-SIM support, with slots for Micro-SIM cards (4G+3G). Yureka Plus also features Cat. 4 4G LTE connectivity.

Samsung launches Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7 exclusively on Flipkart

Samsung has announced the launch of two new smartphones in the Indian market which will be sold exclusively onFlipkart. The Galaxy J5 and the Galaxy J7 are priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively and can be pre-booked between 16 July and 23 July.
The Galaxy J5 has a 5inch HD display and is powered by 1.2Ghz Snapdragon quad-core processor. It has 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, support for expandable memory and 2600mAh battery. The Galaxy J7 features a 5.5inch HD display. It is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Exynos processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and support of up to 128GB of expandable memory. It packs in a 3000 mAh battery.
Both the smartphones are dual SIM devices and have a 13MP rear camera with auto focus, LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with LED flash.

Now, Xiaomi Mi 4i to be available without registration

After launching the Mi 4i in India through the flash sale model, Xiaomi is now making the smartphone readily available (open sale) across its online e-commerce partners. Starting today, consumers do not need to register and wait for the weekly flash sale to purchase the Mi 4i. Priced at Rs 12,999, the Mi 4i will be available on Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal as well as Mi.com.

Microsoft to launch Windows 10 on July 29

Microsoft will launch Windows 10, an upgraded windows operating system on July 29 globally, allowing users to switch seamlessly between personal computers, tablets, smartphones and other gadgets, the technology giant said on Monday.
Available for the first time as a free upgrade for a limited time, Windows 10 is intended to give apps a similar feel on all devices and comes with a new Web browser integrated with Cortana, the US-based company's voice- activated answer to Apple's Siri.

XOLO Black smartphone launched at Rs 12,999

XOLO has launched its first smartphone in its online only sub-brand for Rs 12,999. The XOLO Black will be available exclusively on Flipkart.
XOLO Black features a 5.5inch full HD OGS smudge-free display with 1080p resolution and 401ppi. It has Gorilla Glass 3 on the front as well as the rear. The smartphone is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 615 (2nd generation) octa-core chipset and is paired with 2GB of RAM.
It comes with 16GB internal storage, expandable to 32GB. The biggest highlight of the Black is its dual-camera setup that the company claims helps in fast focus. It has one 13MP sensor and one 2MP sensor on the rear.
It also has a 5MP front-facing camera. It also has a flash for front and the rear camera. It is a dual SIM smartphone with LTE support. It will run on Android Lollipop and will have XOLO's Hive atlas UI.
The XOLO Black will be available on Flipkart from July 13. The company has also tied up with Vodafone, under which the Black smartphone will be at display at the Vodafone stores across the country.
Vodafone users buying the Black smartphone will get 1GB of free data per month for two months or unlimited music download from Vodafone Music application for two months.
XOLO Black will compete against Xiaomi Mi 4i, which was launched a couple of months ago.

Microsoft announces Xbox Ultimate Game Sale is on

Microsoft has announced its annual Ultimate Game Sale offering heavy discounts on Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. The sale ends on July 13.
The deals will require users to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription except where otherwise noted. Games like 'Battlefield Hardline', 'Dragon Age: Inquisition, Halo: The Master Chief Collection' and more are included in the event.
Some Xbox 360 games will soon work on Xbox One, too, by way of backward compatibility. The update will be released this year.

Swipe to launch education tablets for under Rs 10,000

Swipe Technologies, a company that specialises in providing affordable technology through tablets, is planning to launch a sub-brand for its education tablets.
Expected to be launched sometime in August this year, the company is looking at launching a complete ecosystem which includes hardware, android operating system with custom UI as well as content and unique services.

Moto G 2nd Gen gets a price cut, now at Rs 9,999

Not one to be left behind by competitors in the affordable smartphone rat race, Motorola India has announced a cut of Rs 3,000 in the price of its popular handset Moto G 2nd Gen.
The device is now available on Flipkart for Rs 9,999, against an earlier price tag of Rs 12,999.

OnePlus 2 to be priced under Rs 30,000

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has revealed that its new smartphone-OnePlus 2-will be priced under $450 (Rs 28,599). Earlier this year, sources inside the company had claimed that the phone would be launched for 1,999 Yuan, which is about $322 (Rs 20,600).
The official Twitter account of OnePlus tweeted "We've seen price estimates for the #OnePlus2 upwards of $500. Honestly, it's never been about the price." It also has an image of Pete Lau, CEO, OnePlus stating, 'I can promise that the OnePlus 2 will be priced under $450".

Xiaomi teases price cut for Redmi 2, likely to cost Rs 5,999 from July 7

Days after slashing the price of its phablet, Redmi Note 4G, by Rs 2,000 to Rs 7,999, Chinese handset maker Xiaomi seems set to cut the price of another product. If a tweet by Redmi India is to go by, the Redmi 2 is likely to see a price cut of Rs 1,000 starting July 7.
The phone was launched in January for Rs 6,999.
The teaser pitches for smartphone users to get ready to change their phone starting 10 am on July 7, with a half-hidden price of Rs 5,999 for an image. The only Xiaomi device closest to this price is the Redmi 2.
The company also has the Xiaomi Mi 4i online sale lined up for 2 pm on Tuesday. The device is priced at Rs 12,999.
Redmi 2 has a 4.7-inch screen with 1280 x 720 px display. It runs on a 64-bit Qualcomm 410 quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. In addition, the phone features an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.
A price cut will further boost the sales of the company - called Apple of China - in India.

Google's 32 GB Nexus 6 variant available for Rs 29,999 on Flipkart

Google Nexus 6 has got a major price cut on online marketplace Flipkart, with the 32GB variant available for as low as Rs 29,999.
The device was launched in India last year at Rs 44,000 (32GB) and Rs 49,000 (64GB).
While the 32GB variant is now retailing on Flipkart for Rs 34,999, you can take home the 64GB variant for Rs 39,999. You can avail another Rs 5,000 off under the e-commerce portal's exchange offer. This would take the effective price of Nexus 6 32GB to Rs 29,999 and 64GB variant to Rs 34,999.
Google Nexus 6 comes with a 5.96-inch QHD AMOLED display. It is powered by a 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor along with 3GB of RAM. The storage is non-expandable.
The device also has a 13-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel front camera. It comes with a 3,220mAh battery and supports Motorola's Turbo charge, and runs Android Lollipop.
Google has dramatically slashed the price of its Nexus 6 handset in parts of Europe as well.

Panasonic launches P55 NOVO smartphone at Rs 9,290

Electronics firm Panasonic's India arm on Thursday launched its new octacore processor-powered smartphone P55 NOVO at a price tag of Rs 9,290.
The phone, with a 5.3-inch HD display, will sport an integrated infrared (IR) blaster that allows the handset to send various commands to the infrared-based TV, set-top box, air conditioners or any other such equipment with IR sensing capability.
